This shawl started out from yarn I spun during Spinzilla 2016. The Bam Huey handspun yarn is 60% Merino 40% Bamboo. It took me about 12 hours to hand paint the shawl, bringing the total time creating the shawl to over 225 hours. The Shawl is 6 1/2 feet long and 2 feet wide. Here is the story behind the design.....
I travel through The Columbia Gorge often starting from the valley of green rolling hills, and this is where I started with the design of this shawl. The scallop lace edge in a dark green represents the lush hills, then the pattern builds up the steeper hills and the lighter greens of the tree covered mountains. Waterfalls fed by the heavy rainfalls begin showing up through the cracks in the mountains, and feed into the mighty Columbia River.
Care for this shawl: Hand wash cold water, air dry flat, will require soft blocking to retain shape after washing. I will gladly wash and block the shawl for you at no charge when ever needed if you are willing to ship it back to me.
